| "I'm not married," Alexandra Nice would like everyone
to know. "I was doing an interview for Leg Show magazine,
and they mentioned something about 'husband' in the interview,
and my fans, they were writing to me, 'I didn't know you were
married?' I said, 'Because I'm not!' So I called them today and
they asked me to send them a letter and they would publish the
letter. No, Alexandra Nice is single; I'm not married."
Which is actually a little surprising, considering all Ms. Nice
has been through. Alexandra was raised in Poland, where she
says she could often see soldiers marching through the streets,
and violent incidents in public places were common. And that's
not even considering the lack of sex ed....
"There was no sexual education in school," she recalls.
"You couldn't buy books or anything and read about sex.
My parents are Catholic; they didn't talk about sex. Maybe they
were ashamed, shy a little bit or, you know - they never gave
me a sexual education. And I think it's a natural thing that
you want to know something about sex, so the only way to learn
about it was watching porn movies. I've been watching porn movies
since I was maybe 14 years old."
Finally, as a young adult, she scraped together enough cash
for a trip to the U.S., and after she got a taste of what America
had to offer, she decided to make it her home - which is pretty
difficult, when you don't speak the language at all.
"I learned English from watching TV and reading a lot,"
she advises. "I Love Lucy. I really love that show. And
you know what? I learned a lot from the show because they were
using very simple language. Now, when I watch the new shows,
I don't understand those people. What the heck are they talking
about? They have different accents or something, from New York.
I went to school for two months in Chicago, a private school
teaching English, but two months is nothing. Everything I learned,
I learned by myself, mostly watching TV.
"I was talking to Dave [Cummings] at the XRCO show, and
he went, 'Gosh, look at you right now! We can communicate. When
I met you, all you could say was "Thank you," "Hello"
and "Fuck me."' But it was really hard for me; I couldn't
communicate with people and understand people, so it was hard."
Now, however, she seems to have gotten it down to a science.
When Alexandra arrived for her interview, she brought with her
a filmography (that first feature, incidentally, was Dirty Dave:
The Sugardaddy 3, done before she had her first tit job), a
biography (favorite perfumes: "Pleasures and Contradiction";
favorite car: "Mercedes S500!!! Must be the black one!")
and a FAQ, all of which will be posted to her Website, www.alexandranice.com,
which, she says, will be "simple" and "very elegant."
Nice has done over 200 tapes, which doesn't seem like much
for someone who's been in the business almost five years; but
when she first arrived in California in 1995, she only worked
part-time in porn for two years. Her day job was teaching the
Polish language to Polish-American kids at a posh private school.
Her favorite feature so far, she says, is Greg Dark's Psychosexuals
2, but she can't wait for Michael Ninn's Shayla's Web to come
out, as she's quite pleased with both her own performance and
Ninn's directorial style.
Alexandra loves the business, especially the anal sex, but
one thing does get under her skin.
"When people hire me or somebody else," she explains,
"and they tell me 'Your call time is 10 o'clock in the
morning,' of course, I'm always on time. Most people know that.
I'm on location at 10 o'clock in the morning, ready for make-up;
I think they should be ready for me - but many times it's happened,
I will be waiting six, eight hours after make-up. It's pretty
ridiculous, you know. If you are not ready for someone, what's
the problem? Make a phone call: 'We don't need you right now.
We will call you two hours before we will need you.' We live
in America; we don't live in a jungle. There's always ways you
can contact people. Because why waste people's time, right?
So right now, I don't really care how many hours they keep me
on the set; I have daily rates."
First and foremost, Nice intends to be professional.
"This is my job, first thing; this is the way I make
a living; but also, this is something what I really like, [that]
I enjoy. I'm very critical about myself. That's why I watch
my movies, because I want to see what should I do better the
next time."
And though she doesn't have an agent, directors won't have
any trouble hiring her. Just ask her for her business card;
her rates are printed on it.
You don't get much more professional than that.
